It might be better if you don't make assumptions about what members of this 
group do for a living. I realise these were intended purely as examples, but 
as a taxi driver myself I constantly have to dodge pedestrians, who in inner 
(downtown) Melbourne walk where they like, when they like, with impunity, 
and if you have the temerity to tap your horn, they give you a finger. Such 
people certain do *not* 'try desperately to escape'.
