My question is: What is the largest organism that has been frozen for a perio of time, and then been re-animated? My little story goes back to my elementary school years when i lived in Inuvik North West Territories. Every spring, large chunks of snow and ice would slide off of the room of our school, and accumulate in big piles of ice all around the school yard. Completely encased in big chunks of ice, were your ordinary looking everyday type of housefly. My schoolmates and I would spend our recess digging chunks of ice that had these files in them. When it was time to go back to class, we would sneak these peices of ice in with us and place them in hidden places around the classroom; in the garbage or in other's desks. After about 20 minutes or so, the ice would be melted and the flies would be flying all around the classroom, disturbing the teacher to our delight. I guess the flies had somehow gotten frozen in the first snowfall in a nest or something on the roof of our school, and spent the entire winter frozen in ice. It was a pretty wierd thing to see flies buzzing around when snow still covered everything. +++ Aaron Davidson Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=3028
