I knew this already -- AFAIK, I made it up;
quote freely, put in a fortune cookie, etc.

Just in time is often too late.

I previewed the Real Cryonics video with Mike
tonight. The cuts I did didn't work right. The
video would go from sharp to pixillated and back,
and the audio was often out of sync. I'll need
to apologize for the quality of the video
before I start it.

Also, the DVD player is Close-and-Play quality.
It's built into the side of a pitifully small
(32") flat screen display, and doesn't even
have a Pause button. There's no way to access
the menus or skip segments; it just starts
playing. Now I know just how lame players can
get. Probably the safest thing would be for
me to have my own complete setup -- player,
projector and screen -- I never know when I'll
be asked to present in a place with inadequate
equipment.

No doubt about it; I'm going to have to get my
own editing software and do this at home so
I can play with it for hours and days on end
and get it right.

The DVD and the video setup make two disasters.
The third was leaving my banner at home, Mike
lettered a replacement on the dry-erase Contact
paper that I _did_ think to bring, but that
used it up so it's not available for other
signs. Hopefully three is enough for this year.

Last year I brought two laptops and a mini
printer. This year, one laptop and no printer.
The extra laptop and printer would have been
useful this time -- it would allow me to make
new signs (Mike did a great job hand-lettering,
but I won't always have Mike) and to do video
presentations outside the main hall while
doing other things like taking notes, designing
signs, checking email, etc. I feel like my
carrying capacity is being strained, though --
handling everything on my own (80 pounds of
checked baggage plus laptop case and walker) is
hard for me. The extra stuff I brought last
year was with someone to drive me all the way
from the airport to the hotel; this time I
caught buses. I got a ride from the Park-and-
Ride to the hotel; I'm not sure how I'd have
managed if I'd had to walk (and if it had been
snowing and bitterly cold like it sometimes is).

This is just bellyaching now; sorry. I'll see
if I can sleep and shake these sniffles and
sore throat and do what people have sent me
up here to do -- spread the cryonics message.

Live long and prosper,
Kennita
