WANTED: RESEARCH ASSISTANT

21st Century Medicine (21st) and Biopreservation, Inc.(BPI) are biomedical
research and development companies specializing in whole animal, bypass
augmented, deep hypothermia studies, organ cryopreservation research and
cerebral resuscitation research.  Both companies are located in Rancho
Cucamonga, California where they co-tenant a 7,000 square foot
state-of-the art animal research facility.

21st and BPI are seeking a research assistant reporting to and working
directly under the companies' Director of Research with the following
abilities and qualifications:

*Knowledge of general laboratory technique.
*Experience with post operative and ICU care of dogs or humans.
*Nursing (human) or veterinary nursing background.
*Willingness to work irregular hours and particularly to work at least
 every other weekend.
* Good personal organization and record keeping /note taking skills.
*Ability to assist and help keep organized a sometimes disorganized group
 of investigators.
*A degree in nursing or physiology would be helpful, but a degree is not as
 important as knowledge and skill.

The job of the research assistant will be to prepare animals for operative
procedures, do blood typing and crossmatching, carry out simple operative
procedures (catheter placement) assist with major surgeries, participate
in data acquisition (operate blood gas equipment, take notes, operate other
analytical equipment, etc.) organize research records, maintain USDA mandated
records and handle USDA inspections of the animal colony, as well as assist
with routine animal care.

An additional important qualification is the willingness to work with HIV
seropositive material on an occasional basis.

Applicants should be mature, even tempered, good with people and animals,
able to work in a high-stress environment, be flexible and able to handle
some administrative tasks such as ordering supplies, be able to lift 50
pounds and have no known animal allergies.

The companies offer a salary based on prior experience and capability
ranging from $17,500 to $21,000 per year.  Medical and dental benefits
are not included, however access to the companies' medical director
(a Board Certified Internists with extensive emergency and urgent care
experience) for routine medical care on a round-the-clock basis is
available at no charge as an employee benefit.
