Subject: Barbara Walters aging program surprisingly good! Yippee!

Hello, Fellow Cryoneters, lurkers, and assorted hangers onners...

Did any of you catch the ABC Barbara Walters special, "Living to 150...Can
You Do It?" special last night at 10 Eastern?

Surprize! I thought this was a well done take on antiaging, longevity, and
cryonics. I am surprized because the press has historically provided a
sensationalistic, obnoxious, and sometimes negative takes on cryonics.

In contrast, cryonics was portrayed in this program as a medical

intervention to extend life, practiced by intelligent and forsightful people.
They even
interviewed several sets of folks who are signed up as Alcor clients, who

interviewed well and articulated the excitement and possibilities of cryonics.
Great work, Tripper and Venus McCarthy and Shannon and family!

Tanya Jones looked credible, scientific, reasonable, and attractive as she
walked around showing Ms Walters the dewars and technology.

I was dissapointed that no one got the sound bite in about the substantial
cost of procedure being generally covered with life insurance...this was no
doubt mentioned but did not survive the editing.

All in all, a bit of needed good news on the popular press front regarding
cryonics, IMO. I even liked the Aubrey DeGray segment. Congratulations to
all involved.

Any others have observations on this show?

For Centuries,
