The "Door into Summer" point is an important one: A major reason why
biostasis patients will be revived, so long as they have paid for it,
is that cryonics will be used for purposes other than to save life until
diseases can be cured. The technology for storage and reactivation will be
perfected for use in interplanetary and, especially, intersolar flights, and
because some people may want to experience the thrill of subjectively jumping
through time into a new world.
This last, "temporal jump" practice, if it happens, will also
ensure that legal structures will be developed for protecting people's assets
while they are inactivate.
