Well Mark,

I had to google up "hogwarts" since I pay little attention to childrens'
fairy tales. No wonder I had no idea about it. I know you gave birth to
the term "singularitarian" and are obviously still emotionally attached to
it, but I doubt it is used in any of the so-called Singularity University's
materials; in fact, they don't seem to present much about the idea of the
technological Singularity at all. Which is probably a good thing, but the
name on their shingle is a sham.

I saw the same news articles you did the other day, and thought about
posting one of them to Cold Filter, but decided there was little relevance
to cryonics in them. What the webpages you cited do seem to present is a
lot of advanced technology, short of what a Singularity AI could do. I did
not look further to try to determine if this is an academically accredited
institution; I leave that to the seeker.

If that "University" does indeed focus anywhere on the technological
Singularity, I hope they are bright enough to understand the dangers such an
event presents. And that they would offer cautionary advice on keeping
their advanced computers under control, for there is indeed no logical
reason that an AI superior to humans would be friendly to us, or even think
we are relevant and there is a need for our continued existence. Put
yourself in their place -- would you?

Cheers I hope,

FD
