Not necessarily, people under go religious conversions and feel better  
than they did previously.

Well known, but faulty view. Advantage is due to increased  
'resilience', one effect of increased religious belief. If you control  
for resilience, then increases in religious belief yield higher levels  
of psychological problems, etc.

Terror management theory accounts for the data without resorting to
