Way back when in 1980, TRANS TIME designed and ordered the largest
dewar that has ever been used to store human patients. Our King
Kong Kapsule has a capacity of about 11 whole-body patients, and we
are currently using it to maintain eight patients.

Several months ago, John Day and I prepared specifications and
ordered a smaller four-patient dewar, the Son of Kong. On May 1 we
took delivery of this unit. The manufacturer's tests show that
with the dewar 1/3 full, it boils off 9+ liters per day. This
figure will increase when the dewar is full, but still promises
excellent performance in the vicinity of 3 liters/day/patient with
four patients in it. (We might only get three patients into it,
depending upon their size).

TRANS TIME continues to have the largest capacity in the industry
for storage of patients; we have room for about 20 whole-body
patients in stainless steel vacuum-insulated dewars, plus room for
3 more on a short-term emergency basis. We bought this new dewar
mainly as a backup to insure patient safety. If the vacuum were
ever to fail in our large dewar, we have more than enough empty
dewar space to transfer all of the patients.
