Brook Norton's thesis that survival is meaningless has 
as usual some good thoughts, but if we want accuracy
we need to be careful. With reasonable choice of allowable
language, it is certainly true that "you" or any object or system
can properly be regarded as surviving in certain ways and
to certain degrees. This is observable. 
 
The problem again is not what you want, but what you ought
to want based on logic and biology. It's complicated and
subtle, and satisfaction is not guaranteed, but that's why I wrote
Youniverse
