Hello all, and now for a new idea!

I want to suggest a conference call just for chat. These calls work well
for board meetings and are inexpensive, or even free for many people. Why do
this? Because how often do you get to talk to fellow enthusiasts? A call
just to chat would be like dropping by a coffee klatch of cordial
cryonicists.

It's possible to get a free chat room for up to 30 people at a time. Users
just call the number (it's a regular area code in Iowa), key in the

extension, and chat. Users pay for the long distance charge themselves -- but
long
distance is free to many of us; we pay for unlimited service by the month.
For others, it's cheap now. For many places overseas it's a couple of

cents a minute. For those in more remote areas, many Internet cafes have access
to Skype, which is a couple of cents a minute too. Thus I hope it should
be affordable for all.

The number is (712) 338-8710 -- and when it asks for the room number
type in 388, "followed by the pound sign."

I've used this service with another organization for years, and it's always
 been excellent.

Because anyone can call in we would assume the presence of talkative types
and discourage any controversial or private remarks.

Would anybody like to try this? Does anyone have a time suggestion? What
about this Sunday, 5 PM Mountain Daylight Time, 7PM Eastern?

and maybe someone can find this as GMT, Australian etc. -- I can't seem to
find a site that gives anything but the current time, and we have to worry
about the International Dateline too.

Or does anyone have a better time suggestion?

Also, note that the number is available 24/7/365, so any of us wishing to
have a small conference to discuss anything can always use it. (Say, several
people want to discuss perfusion techniques or uploading or whatever.)
Also, these numbers are free and take about ten seconds to get, so if we want
another number for private discussions that's easy too. ( And if you want
your own number for family calls etc., just go to mrconference.com.)

I tried this with the Cryonics Institute group but got only one caller -- I
think the group needs to be larger. Please let me know if you plan to
attend.

Is anyone interested? Anyone prefer another time? Comments?
