I don't blame Art Quaife for bowing out of the discussion and having no desire
to respond to a "major principal in Alcor" (Mike Darwin).

After all, how much time does one have for experiencing joy if one is
preoccupied with nitty gritty facts all the time? That darn Mike has always
tended to be an overly serious killjoy anyway. Besides, you know what gives
straight thinkers the most joy? The good ole bottom line. For Trans Time it
appears that freezing people (and keeping them frozen) is merely a disagreeable
but necessary means to an end. And that end is to make a buck.

If what Mike said is true in #333 about Dick Jones having to pony up Trans
Times' back bills on two patients in order to take over their maintenance, then

truly Trans Time considers no duty more sacred than protecting that bottom line.
What if Alcor had offered to take the two patients, but had refused to pay the
back bills? Would Trans Time have gone to the expense of burning them rather

than giving them to Alcor at no added cost? It appears so. And that seems mean
spirited indeed. How much "joy" would those patients ever get to feel? Hey, I
do understand, joy has its place, but business is business.

At about this time I would start to worry if I happened to be number 56 on the
list of 55 to 120 people for whom Trans Time may admit to having cryonics
responsibility. Art implied only 55 are for sure covered by Trans Time. This
means there are 65 people in ACS who think they'll be frozen upon deanimation,
but about whom Trans Time isn't so sure. Remember folks, business is business.
