Cryo-1:  A Research Symposium
on Advances in Biostasis,
Life Extension,
and Re-Entry Technologies.

February 17-18, 1996
President's Day Weekend

Sponsored annually by the
Alcor Life Extension Foundation.

The  purpose of the annual Cryo symposia is
to benefit all members of the life extension
community by promoting and encouraging  more
research  by individuals  and cryonics
organizations, and to help raise the
standing  of  cryonics within the general
cryobiological and general scientific
communities.

Although the emphasis is on research,
relevant  theoretical papers are also
invited. All parties interested in making a
presentation at Cryo-1 are invited to
contact the Symposium Coordinators for more
details (see below).


E V E N T S


FRIDAY  EVENING:  Registrants and guests are
invited  to  attend an informal reception
to meet  with  symposium presenters, renew
old friendships, and meet others  interested
in the life extension sciences.



SATURDAY AND SUNDAY:  The Plenary and Poster
Sessions.  Instructions for speakers may be
obtained by calling or writing the symposium
coordinators (also, see below).





SATURDAY EVENING and MONDAY:

A banquet will be held on Saturday evening.
For registrants and guests who wish to enjoy
the beautiful Scottsdale area before
returning home, a special event will be
announced.



H O T E L   R E G I S T R A T I O N

Cryo-1  is  being  held at the  Best Western
Thunderbird Suites located in North
Scottsdale.   Spacious two-room suites (both
smoking and non-smoking) are comfortably
appointed in desert mauves and teals in a
light Southwestern contemporary style.

Suites have two televisions, two telephones,
wet bar and refrigerator. Microwave ovens,
VCR's and movie rentals are available upon
request. The hotel property  is  equipped
with a heated pool, Jacuzzi, guest laundry
and a Thrifty car rental agency.

Also  available is the Thunderbird
Restaurant where complimentary continental
breakfast will be served each morning to
hotel guests.  The Silver Wings Lounge
offers complimentary hors d' Oeuvres along
with happy hour drink prices.

The Thunderbird Suites can arrange for you
to take a shot at a great round of golf just
minutes away, or take a hot air balloon
ride, a desert jeep tour, or even learn to
fly a plane at the nearby private airport.

The Best Western Thunderbird Suites is
offering a special rate of $95.00 per room
(up to an occupancy of four) per night for
symposium attendees.

nationwide Best Western reservation line,
INSTEAD, call:  800-334-1977 BEFORE December
1, 1995.  To get the special rate, you must
tell the reservationist that you attending
Cryo-1.

Alcor  Life Extension Foundation. Advance
Registration of  $75 (US dollars) includes
the Abstracts of Proceedings (available upon
arrival) and the Saturday evening banquet.
Registrations received after June 1, 1995
will be $85. Registrations received after
January 1, 1996 will be $95, Registrations
made at the door will be $125.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRESENTERS AND
PREPARATION OF ABSTRACTS AND POSTERS



Proceedings of the Cryo-1 Research
Symposium on Advances in Biostasis,
Life Extension, and Re-Entry
Technologies will be published as part
of the symposium program and will be
given to registrants upon arrival.
Presenters may add related research
results (obtained after their Abstract
is submitted) to their presentations,
however, these cannot be printed as
part of the Abstracts of the
Proceedings.

POSTERS:  Space in the Plenary Session
is limited. Prospective presenters who
would like to make oral presentations
at the Plenary Sessions are encouraged
to submit early.  Abstracts which are
not selected for presentation to the
Plenary Session may be presented in a
Poster Session. Presenters who cannot
attend may also wish to submit
Abstracts for the Poster Session.

PROGRAM COMMITTEE:  Abstracts will be
refereed by a Program Committee headed
by Ralph Merkle, Ph.D.   The acceptance
of presentations and posters will be
made on the basis of the initial
abstracts submitted.

DEADLINES:   Initial abstracts are due
prior to August 1, 1995 and need not be
camera ready. Final (camera ready)
Abstracts are due prior to
December 1, 1995.  These deadlines
cannot be extended.

REGISTRATION:   Presenters at both the
Plenary and Poster Sessions are
expected to register for the symposium.

PREPARATION GUIDELINES:   Final
abstracts must be camera ready;  the
author is expected to provide Final
Abstracts of acceptable quality. The
following suggestions may help
presenters prepare their Abstracts.

Abstracts should be no longer than one
page with top, bottom and side margins
of .5 inch, including the bibliography,
figures and text.

If illustrations or figures are used,
please provide original half-tones or,
if line drawings are used, submit black
ink drawings or sharp prints (no color
prints or photocopies). Use 12 pitch
type size, single spacing, and
paragraph indentation of 4 spaces.
Titles and headings of major sections
should be capitalized.

For the bibliography: within the text,
use numbers in the order in which the
references are mentioned, and use this
form for the bibliography: 1.  Bairns,
A.A.., Chiron, G.B.., and Palmer, S.R.
Proc Natl Aca. Sci, USA 88, 9576-9589
(1993).

COVER LETTER:  The cover letter should
include, (1) the name of the presenter
and address where she or he can be
notified of acceptance of the Abstract
(including telephone number, fax
number, and e-mail address if
applicable), (2) five key words or
phrases taken from the Abstract to be
used in the subject index, (3) the name
of the session (Plenary or the Poster,
research or theoretical, Biostasis,
Life Extension, or ReEntry) to which
the presentation or poster is related,
and (4) a brief description of credits
and background for use in introduction
if the Abstract is accepted for the
Plenary Session.  A form letter can be
supplied for your convenience.
