Yes, also, you're right about heart transplantation.  Nevertheless,
science (unlike law) does not proceed on precedent: simply because
people disbelieved X, which later came to pass, does not mean that
disbelieving Y will cause Y to occur.  That's a cause-and-effect
fallacy, no matter how you look at it.  Furthermore, the comparison
between a heart transplant and reviving a neuro patient strikes me
as pretty silly, even if I understand what you're getting at.  The
requisite technologies are vastly different.  Cryonics will require
developments that will make a heart transplant look like changing the
spark plugs in you car.
