July 10. He was taken to a nearby hospital and pronounced legally dead shortly after midnight by the attending physician. Even though his was a coroner's case, he was released to Alcor by 3:10 AM with the assistance of Christopher Ashworth and Judge Munoz. The suspension was carried out by the Alcor team plus Dr. Eugene Breznock, who performed the thoracic surgery. His suspension was done as well as other suspensions done by Alcor under those circumstances. The September issue of Cryonics magazine will give the details. I'm curious (and not YET an Alcor member or subscriber to Cryonics): what was the reason for the three hour delay? Was it legal, technical, a matter of the apropriate people not being informed in time, or what? A second question is, how much worse is the damage to the brain after three hours than after, say, 15 minutes? Perry Metzger Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=381
