Subject: Re: cryonics #404 - Nano-neurons?

Speaking for myself, my chief problem about "Uploaders" is that they seem
to merrily ignore many difficulties. (I said and mean "merrily": it's one
thing to think about uploading, and another to simply shrug off any possible
problems. After all, we DON'T EVEN _REALLY_ KNOW HOW MEMORY WORKS).

Since your neurons continually renew themselves, it's not clear just what
the real difference is between substituting an electrical circuit and
living in a real body. But even to seriously consider "uploading", we'll
have to know a LOT more than now about how our brains work.

As for souls, I think a fair and uptodate definition of a "soul" would be
exactly the design of and information in our brains. Design and informat-
ion, note, are not material.
