Subject: USE OF CRYONICS E-MAIL LIST

Kevin, I too questioned the wisdom of your requesting those on the
cryonics E-mail list not to pursue political discussions any further.
It is now clear to me that the way people approach POLITICS IN GENERAL
will have a huge impact on the alternatives we choose in our efforts
(collective and individual) to keep cryonics available to ourselves---
whether it remains legal or not.

For the most part, I respect and have some empathy with the opinions of
those who have expressed disagreement with my political activist
mentality. However to date, none of the anarchists/pure-libertarians
have explained HOW the pursuit of political non-participation or
"taking cryonics underground" will result in a better operating
environment for us in the long run. Personally, I can't imagine how it
possibly could. Just exactly how do YOU propose we deal with the
situation if the Riverside District Attorney comes to the Alcor
facility with an arrest warrant for the illegal disposition of human
remains, accompanied by a fully armed swat team from the Riverside
Police Department? Or, if that situation is hopeless to a pure
libertarian, exactly how does a pure libertarian, starting with the
present state of affairs, make precautions to ensure that that scenario
ABSOLUTELY CANNOT come about? I am talking about solutions that a small
group of people can put into effect, not something like re-structuring
the entire United States government. If ANY of the anti-politics E-mail
writers can give me an acceptable answer to that question, I will
surely re-consider my position. That, ladies and gentlemen, is an open
challenge to my critics, if you are up to it.

Very truly yours,
Allen J. Lopp
