Subject: need for sleep

Unfortunately it's very likely that our need for sleep can be dealt with
simply by changing a few genes. It seems to be much more deeply stuck into
our design. For instance, our brain remains very active while we sleep. It
must therefore (very likely) be DOING SOMETHING. And given the fact that
enough time without sleep can kill, what it's doing may be important for
life and health.

Some animals, such as rabbits, tend not to sleep as deeply as we do. It may
be possible to fix ourselves so that these functions take place while we
do more than simply lie in bed. But the problem isn't simple at all.

		Best and long long life,
