One of the biggest problems with passive storage in, say, Anarctica,
is that the capital cost of transport and storage there exceeds the
capital cost of indefinite storage back in the real world.
If the collapse of civilization is what you are concerned about,
then you had better be concerned about how many millennia pass
before you are rediscovered in your icy grave. I won't even
bother discussing the biological issues of high-subzero storage,
except to say that they are terrible.

For my money, the best bet for making it to the future is
to get yourself preserved with the very best technology you
can afford, place yourself in the care and oversight of the
most trustworth people you can find, and place your money somewhere
where it can continue to support you through the rough ride
of cryonics history. For me, this means membership in the CryoCare
Foundation with my children and trusted friends as Patient Advocates.
