I enjoyed Grag Bear's short novel "Heads".
It considers one possible outcome of neuropreservation.
I had trouble finding it in Los Angeles, but came across
a copy in a Wellington book shop. Autographed!

[ Didn't Cryonics magazine have a review of "Heads"? Also, for another
cryonics-related SF feature, you may want to see the movie "Late For Dinner"
which just came out. Max More (on the extropians mailing list) described
  it as follows:
"Cryonics is used at the beginning as a device to let the protagonist skip
a couple of decades and deal with the changes in family and society." - KQB ]
