This identifies the black hole of cryonics "marketing." One of the major
functions of religion is to help people deal with death and work through their
grief. Often the religious counselor uses this period to "educate" the
survivors. This is obviously good time "sign up" new members. People simply
prefer not to think about death. If the times they are forced to do so are not
used, then the opportunity is lost for changing attitudes. A coalition of some
sort has to made between the cryonics movement and International Ethical Union
in order to reach Humanist counselors, who at the moment just teach people to
accept death as final.
