I had not intended for the note I sent to David S. to spark such a lengthy
comment re this subject.  However, since he brings it up, the Humanist
I have talked to are *actively* hostile to the very concept of life
extension, let along cryonics.  They use the usual arguements about the
old folks needing to "get out of the way," and otherwise demonstrate a
lot of loathing for themselves and humanity in general.  Now, don't get
me wrong, my experience is local--at least to the point of being on this
side of the puddle.  If David has better luck talking to Humanist types,
I would be delighted to hear about it.  Keith Henson
