Subject: Correction re Extropian mailing list

Sorry to take up the list's time for this, but Perry Metzger has
repeatedly flamed me for an ambiguity in my message 4985, where I said:

> You aren't allowed to forward the postings to others. (Thus if you
> archive all your mail, and give copies to others for off-site backup,
> you would have to remove all Extropian mail first.)

Offsite backups *are* allowed, he says, just so long as the offsite
people don't actually *look* at the backups.

Since I give a copy of all my non-private mail to my brother for him to
read and archive, and since this has long been an excellent value-for-
value working arrangement, I had perhaps wrongly considered that to be
the implicit default.

Perry says I am "nuts" and "incapable of simple reasoning". So be it.
The Extropian list is not for me. I'm glad to hear that Peter Merel
has chosen to follow up on memes elswhere on the net, instead.
