Greetings:

Here we are nattering on about hypertechnological ways of extracting
information from frozen brains. At the same time, little seems to be going on
(except possibly in Mike Darwin's lab, but he might well not let other
cryonics groups use it) with advancing our ability to VITRIFY brains. Since
the latter looks like it has a high chance of success with comparatively little
research work, and the former looks like it really would require Stodolsky's
half-billion dollar funding, if not more, these discussions seem based on a
rather odd set of priorities.

In case the devotees of Nanotechnology haven't yet noticed, many cryonicists
are cryonicists because they wish to LIVE, not because they insist on any
particular means by which they can live. It's fine to discuss such hypothetical
things, when you feel the urge. However if the boat on which you are riding
is taking in water at a great rate because it has a large hole in its hull,
and you decide to talk about nanotechnological means of transport over the
water, rather than rush for the lifeboats, there is something wrong somewhere.

I will assure those who seem to be doing so, however, that IF I am suspended,
and IF my suspension succeeds, and IF it succeeds well enough for me to
remember them, I will occasionally do so.

Best wishes and long long life,

				Thomas Donaldson
