To Eugen: When I was living and working in Australia and also wanted cryonics, I tried quite a number of things. One of the first things I tried was paid publicity. This wasted lots of money but got me nowhere. Yes, even in the US lots of people turn up their noses at the idea of cryonics as if it were something left by a rude animal. You should NOT expect lots of people to join you soon after they hear the idea. My best suggestion for positive action would be to get together with those you know who ARE interested and start actually doing something. For instance, incorporate a society. Those who are really interested will approach you the more they see that something is happening other than talk. (Which is not to say that you should stop talking). If you have money, you can start saving to get equipment for the early stages of a suspension. Even getting together a lot of the heavier supplies (say, the solutions needed for perfusion)can help. You will, if you start doing something (no matter how apparently small) find some of those who expressed interest early on beg out from actually doing any work. That's the way things happen. Don't alienate them, just try to keep on working. If you are an individual, and no one else looks like they are interested in actually DOING anything, then you might try first incorporating a society and putting out a newsletter (it need be no more than one page). And you yourself can then go to be trained in the procedures necessary. I hope that this will be helpful. And don't think that behavior you describe is unique to Germany. I don't know ANYWHERE where more than a very small number of people will respond to cryonics. Best and long long life, Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=5176
