Nanotechnology is about moving atoms to specific locations, so I don't see a distinction between general nano, medical nano, and cryonics-revival nano. When you have nanotechnology both revival of cryonics patients and uploading will be easy, without it both are impossible. Even when it's possible, will anybody bother to revive us? This question does trouble me. The one bright spot is the thought that the cost of revival, although not zero, will be very low, just like everything else at that time. I have no illusions that I will be of any great value in that age, but perhaps my usefulness will not be EXACTLY zero.
