I agree with Brad Templeton <> that the
motivation of those in the future who could potentially revive
us is a serious problem,  but I don't think that has anything to
do with uploading. Nanotechnology is about moving atoms to
specific locations, so I don't see a distinction between  
general nano, medical nano, and cryonics-revival nano. When you
have  nanotechnology both revival of cryonics patients and
uploading will be easy, without it both are impossible.

Even when it's possible, will anybody bother to revive us? This
question does  trouble me. The one bright spot is the thought
that the cost of revival, although not zero, will be very low,
just like everything else at that time. I have no illusions
that I will be of any great value in that age, but perhaps my 
usefulness will not be EXACTLY zero.
