Due to this people call him >DR.Frankenstein' . The man you are talking about is Dr. Raymond Martinot. I don't have his current whereabouts; perhaps Anatole Dolinoff would. (I don't have his whereabouts either but think I could find it if you are interested; Bob Ettinger may be able to help too: ) Dr. Martinot's wife Monique Leroy died Feb. 25, 1984, at age 49, and was frozen and stored in a refrigerator that is supposed to maintain a temperature approximately that of dry ice. Dr. Martinot was 62 at the time of the freezing and was described in press reports as a "retired Assistant (Professor?) of the Academy of Medicine" in Paris. Most of this information comes from an article in the August, 1984 *Immortalist*, "Suspension furor in France" (starting p. 2). The "furor" erupted when a power failure forced Dr. Martinot to purchase dry ice, which aroused curiosity by "some unfriendly busybody" who informed local police. Officials in France fretted over whether keeping someone in a freezer was proper, etc., but in the end Monique stayed frozen and (so far as I am aware) is still frozen today. As for calling Dr. Martinot "Dr. Frankenstein" the *Immortalist* article comments, "Dr. Martinot's decision to go it alone, in the way that he did, does not seem the wisest, of course, but at least he did *something*, putting love and honor ahead of convenience and public opinion, and for that he has our respect and admiration." Dr. Martinot must be in his 70s now. I hope his wife stays frozen, and he is frozen himself, when deanimation time comes. Mike Perry Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=5307
