I question how "pure hydrostactic pressure" using a liquid  even at levals
as high as 2-3000 barr could cause damage to tissues.  

I suspect that the damage was caused by 1) too rapid application or
release of pressure, 2) too high partial pressures of reactive gasses
disolved in the liquid (especially oxygen), 3) too high partal pressures
of any gasses combined with a too  rapid release of pressure could cause a
lot of damage.  Has this research addressed these issues????
