Executive Committee

November 3, 1991
41 Sunrise Lane
Lafayette, CA 94549

A meeting of the ACS Board of Governors had been scheduled for this
time. There were only three Governors present, which was not the
required minimum for a quorum. The Governors present met as the
Executive Committee.

The meeting was called to order by Secretary Jim Yount at about 6:30 p.m.

Approval of Agenda

The agenda was approved as presented.

Resignation of Governor/Appointment of New Governor

Margaret Bradshaw had recently resigned as Governor because of time
restrains. Dr. Ben-Abraham appointed Carmen Brewer to serve out the
remainder of Margaret's term. Meeting attendants expressed thanks to
Margaret and welcomed Carmen as a new Governor.

Legal Review of Suspension Forms

The following motion was made by Jim Yount and seconded by Dick Marsh:

Resolved: The American Cryonics Society authorizes attorney Jim
Bianchi to review our forms for enrolling a member in the American
Cryonics Society's suspension program. It is our understanding that a
portion of this legal review will be paid for from the legislative
lobbying trust established by Mr. Bianchi as authorized by the last
will and testament of Violet Jones and her trustee. Any legal fees
for reviewing our forms not paid for by this trust will be shared
equally with Trans Time, Inc. As part of this review Mr. Bianchi
will prepare recommendations of needed statutory changes to allow the
orderly conducting of suspensions with appropriate regulation.

The motion passed unanimously.

Since this was an Executive Committee meeting and not a Board of
Governors meeting this motion is only a committee recommendation.

Order of the Garter and Dues

A letter suggesting a higher level of support for ACS from members
through contributions and a pledge of commitment was distributed.
There was discussion on what level of commitment should be asked of
people making a pledge.

Cat Freezing

On October 30, a cat who was a family pet of an ACS member was placed
into suspension by a team of volunteers from the American Cryonics
Society. The animal is being kept in a dry ice temperature chest
until the member can make arrangements for long term storage.

Tissue samples were taken of skin and fatty tissue which were frozen
with a cryoprotective solution.

Publicity

There was considerable recent publicly. Carmen Brewer reported on her
appearance on French national television on the show Si On Se
Disais Tout. The show features guests with unusual vocations or
hobbies. Guests are presented in a "really big show" manner with lots
of fan-fare to a studio audience.

Dick Marsh announced a "why I want to be frozen" essay contest for
listeners of Z 93 (WGTZ) in Dayton Ohio. The winner will get a free
freezing.

Dr. Ben-Abraham appeared, via satellite on Italian national
television in a program which is the Italian equivalent of the U.S.
network program Nightline. The topic was the 4,000 year old man found
by mountain climbers in the Alps.

CI Contract

A draft contract from the Cryonics Institute was distributed.
Committee members agreed to proceed with the contract with minor
modifications.
