It could if the terminally ill could elect to go into suspension whilst 
still alive, ie it would be as though they were under anaesthetic for a 
very long time. (forever if it didn't work)

Unfortunately a test case in the USA had the court decide that this could 
not be allowed. One of the reasons given was that it would make the 
determination of homicide cases more difficult for the legal profession.

However economic pressures could make the authorities change their minds. 
Terminal care is very expensive and a Cryonics Institute suspension is 
about UKP22k including transport. As there is a hope and a chance of 
revival into good health and youth, such a procedure would not be 
euthanasia. But it should never be compulsory, and patients should only be 
able to use the facility if they had signed papers whilst of sound mind.
