X-Message-Number: 5785 Date: 21 Feb 96 19:48:37 EST From: Saul Kent <> Subject: Legal Pre-Mortem Freezing To Brad Templeton: I would appreciate it if you would refrain from lecturing me about the lessons to be drawn from the Dora Kent case. You have no direct knowledge of that case, nor do you have any direct knowledge of me. Clearly, I have a very different perspective than you do regarding the practice the cryonics. I value very highly the benefits of being frozen prior to the pronouncement of "death" and, as a result, would welcome the legalization of this practice. I am less concerned than you are about the likelihood of attempts to make cryonics illegal in response to this practice. I am confident that, should such attempts be made, they would be defeated. And I am virtually certain that cryonics will continue to be practiced even if cryonics *is* made illegal. If and when pre-mortem suspensions are made legal, you are free to join any cryonics organization that does not offer this service. If no such organization exists, you are free to form your own cryonics organization. ---Saul Kent Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=5785
