David Stodolsky (#6210) writes, regarding the problem of "conformity"
and the non-acceptance of cryonics:

>There is no substitute for examining the scientific

A good point to make--I intend to examine the literature.

Saul Kent, meanwhile (#6207) suggests that people don't look to
each other for standards to conform to--but instead they look to
authority figures. (I wonder what the literature has to say about
that?) If true (and it sounds reasonable) it suggests we should try
to win over those who are recognized as "authority figures."
In fact efforts *have* been made in this direction but our
success so far has been less than spectacular. One wonders what,
mainly, holds back the "authority figures" themselves? Is it fear of
losing their "authority" status if they are seen as endorsing such a
"crazy" idea as cryonics?
