Is it just me? Or are the rest of us also getting tired of
reading messages from articulate, forward-thinking cryonicists
(specifically: David Cosenza and Charles Platt), wasting their
potentially valuable time and energy running each other down? Couldn't
they put their obviously formidable minds to better use, say, writing
articles, books, or novels for general audiences, explaining why
cryonics might actually WORK? (Instead of trying to convince a few
hundred of the already-converted that CryoCare is somehow better than
Alcor, or vice-versa.) Wouldn't the future prospects for the cryonics
movement, and therefore OUR future prospects, be improved by attracting
people to our philosophy rather than driving people away?
Frankly, as one of the already-converted, I don't care about any
of this personal bickering. I don't care who sent anonymous e-mails or
violated confidences. I don't care why Timothy Leary decided not to get
frozen. I'd just like to see incremental improvements in cryonic
research and greater public and legal acceptance so that my brain will
be less likely to be mush when they try to revive me.
CryoCare and Alcor's managements would agree, I'm sure, that
they'd be far better served by increasing the total pool of clients than
competing over which organization freezes the greatest number of people.
After all, saving as many lives as possible from our generation is the
REAL goal, isn't it? Couldn't we all get back on the same team somehow?
Mr. Platt & Mr. Cosenza: Maybe you two could call a truce for a
while and see how it goes? Or better yet, have a contest to see who can
write and publish the most convincing articles on why cryonics isn't so
crazy. You're both talented enough as communicators to make a real
difference.
Just an opinion--I hope this doesn't set off another nuclear
exchange.
	Best regards, Jim Halperin

Imagine a world where a machine can always tell whenever anyone is
lying. The Truth Machine will be in bookstores in October, but for now
it is the first and only pre-publication novel you can read FREE on the
