Subject: Leary And The Rift

Keith Henson writes: "A year or so back, Tim considered the possibility
that he could get both Alcor and Cryocare/BP to work on his suspension and to

some extent heal the rift between the cryonics organizations. Quite the opposite
has happened."
Since there *was* what I believe to be a signficiant degree of
cooperation between Alcor and CryoCare/BP in the attempt to get Leary frozen, I
don't think the fact that he was not frozen--which is a personal tragedy for
Leary and for those in the cryonics community who were his friends--should
necessarily lead to the conclusion that, as a result, the rift between the
organizations has gotten worse.
In recent years, there has also been what I believe to be a significant
degree of cooperation is sharing research results among people in several
cryonics organizations. Since I believe that research should be the highest
priority of all the cryonics organizations, I'd like to use this occasion to
suggest that there be greater cooperation among the organizations in pursuing
research goals.
In light of the small size of the cryonics movement as a whole, the

enormity of the task before us, the fact that the clock is ticking on all of us,
and the HUGH potential benefits to be derived from successful cryonics research
for all the cryonics organizations, I suggest that we seek to foster greater
cooperation and more coordination in the future regarding our shared researach
goals.
I expect to be making more specific proposals regarding this issue in the
future.
