Subject: SCI.CRYONICS Pledging To The Promethius Project

The announcement that more than $100,000 a year over a 10-year
period has been solicited from a small group of cryonicists for The
Promethius Project is, I believe, a great event in the history of
cryonics. I have been a longtime advocate of cryonics research and
have invested substantial amounts of money in it for many years.

In my opinion, The Promethius Project is the most important
research project yet set forth in the history of the cryonics movement
for the following reasons:

	1) It focuses on the brain, which is the critical organ that
*must* be preserved adquately for cryonics to work.

	2) It aims to raise enough money for a long enough period of
time to have a realistic chance of developing a perfected method to
preserve the brain.

	3) It focuses primarily on vitrification as a means of preserving
the brain, which is the method that has been shown to be most promising
to date.

	4) It aims to utilize the services of the best experts in
the world in cryobiology and neurobiology to conduct the research.

	5) It is non-partisan.

For all these reasons and more, I believe it is *imperative*
for *all* cryonics organizations and *all* cryonicists to support The
Promethius Project wholeheartedly...with your time, with your expertise,
with your enthusiasm, and first and foremost, with your pledges.

I know that other organizations have funded, and continue to
fund cryonics research. I applaud these efforts and I urge them to
continue. However, I also urge these organizations and their members to
make pledges to The Promethius Project and to participate in its growth
and development.

I am one of those who has pledged $10,000 per year for 10
years to The Promethius Project and I expect to pledge more in the
future. I have done so even though I am (and will continue) to invest
substantially in other types of cryonics and life extension research
because I believe that brain cryopreservation research is the single
most important type of research we can support today. By doing so, we
increase our chances of survival, we increase the credibility of
cryonics, and we partcipate in the building of a scientific foundation
that will have a truly revolutionary impact on the human race, and the
future of intelligent life in the universe.

I urge *every* cryonics organization and *every* cryonicist
to send in their pledges to The Promethius Project today!
