X-Message-Number: 6445 Date: 05 Jul 96 03:36:22 EDT From: Paul Wakfer <> Subject: Prometheus Update The Prometheus Project: Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published, fully reversible brain cryopreservation within 10 years. This is the first daily update and expansion of project information. Project Funding Parameters 1. In order to succeed the project needs to know before it even starts that it will have funding of $1M per year for each of 10 years. 2. All funding will remain in the form of sincere pledges only, until the entire amount required has been collected. It is requested and expected that any individual who *sincerely* wishes to have a good chance for a vastly extended life and has a yearly income of over $50,000.00 should *be able to* pledge between $5K and $10K per year without any possible damage to his or her own health and longevity, and should *want* to do so in order to maximize his or her lifetime happiness (by having a longer lifetime, of course). 3. Not a single penny is due or expected from any pledger until: a) More than the $1M per year for all 10 years required funding has been pledged. b) The scientific and business plans have been fully formulated and approved by all pledgers. c) A corporation has been formed which will: (1) issue a stock offering in accordance with SEC regulations, (2) conclude a share purchase agreement for the purchase of a fixed number of shares at a fixed price for each of 10 years with those wishing to purchase shares, (3) proceed to execute the project, and (4) produce as much profit for the shareholders as possible from the scientific results of the project. 4. Pledges may be made by individuals or corporations either: a) directly to The Prometheus Project (to Paul Wakfer) for a minimum amount of $1K per year for all 10 years. Such pledges will be for the future purchase of shares in a corporation which will be formed to execute the project after the necessary pledge total has been reached and such share purchase payments will not be tax deductible. or b) to one of the following organizations as directed donations of any amount for any number of years. For these pledges tax deductible receipts will be issued when actual payments are made: Alcor Life Extension Foundation American Cryonics Society CryoCare Foundation The Immortalist Society The Life Extension Foundation. 5. Pledges from the organizations named in 4.b) (which may be from donation pledges which have been accumulated together by the organization) will be made under the same terms as 4.a) except that the minimum amount is $10K per year for all 10 years. 6. In accordance with SEC regulations, I must state that this information is not a solicitation for the purpose of purchasing shares in any corporation. Latest Pledge Total As of midnight EDT July 4, 1996, the total of pledges is $107,000.00 per year for each of the 10 years. A $1,000.00 per year pledge was received from Methuselah whose testimonial is given below, and another $4,000.00 per year pledge was received for which I am waiting for a testimonial. Testimonials from all those who agree to have their names made public will be presented here in due course. Pledge totals in each category are now: 8 for $10,000.00 per year for 10 years, 4 for $5,000.00 per year for 10 years, 1 for $4,000.00 per year for 10 years, 3 for $1,000.00 per year for 10 years. Testimonials and Correspondence >From $1000.00 per year pledger Methuselah: "I am pledging $1,000 per year for the 10 years, in support of the Prometheus project to research brain vitrification. If only my personal finances would allow, I would make it much more. Although I am not a professional scientist, I am widely read in cryonics issues, and the way I add it all up, this type of research seems to offer the best possibility of success for eventual reanimation, and should be our priority focus. "Paul Wakfer's "nonpartisan" approach is most encouraging, and entirely necessary for this project to succeed. There just aren't that many of us who are sufficiently committed to cryonics to put our money on the line. This project needs the support and involvement of every cryonicist and of every cryonics organization. The business plan for the research corporation must also provide for equitable and fair access for all participants, to the results of all research conducted. If we do these things, we will move forward together in optimal efforts toward making cryonics really work for extending our lives. Methuselah ()" And Eric Geislinger wrote: >Fantastic! >One point - 10 years is a nice round number, but is it the *best* >number? Is 8 possible? 7? Is 11 necessary? 12? Personally, I sure >wouldn't mind if they finished in 6 years and got to keep whatever was >pledged for years 7 - 10. Yes, I do plan that the 10 years is the maximum that The Prometheus Project should take. And yes, I plan to make the Share Purchase Agreement be for 10 years or successful conclusion of The Prometheus Project whichever comes first, so that is the way all pledges should also be regarded. After that the corporation which has executed the project will continue towards perfecting whole-body suspended animation and previous share purchasers (pledgers) will have the right to continue to purchase for the rest of the 10 years at the same share price. No question, we certainly *will* try to do it as quickly as possible and if extra funding is forthcoming we *will* be able to do it faster. >P.S. Yikes - *another* thought! Thinking over my own financial situation >I wonder if it may be possible to come in at some point other than the >beginning? Please leave it open to, say, fund years 4 through 8 or >whatever. This has not really been considered except for pledges of donations to the organizations will can give tax receipts and will themselves make pledges to the project of equal amounts for all 10 years. From the point of view of administration and the necessity of finding someone to pledge for the other part, I do not want to accept direct pledges in such form at the present time. I am requiring that we have full funding for all 10 years, right up front before we collect a penny from the pledgers. That is *my* pledge to you, the pledgers. I would be very open to having someone else take on the task of receiving and organizing pledges for less than the 10 year time-span and passing them on to me when a "pledge set" totalling an equal amount of $10,000.00 or more per year for all 10 years has been grouped together (notice I'm requiring a minimum "pledge set" total of $10K here). Even then, however, for several reasons I would require that the "pledge set" and the later share purchase be in one name (individual or corporate) only (just as for the tax receipt issuing organizations named above). I hope this helps. !!!!! REVERSIBLE BRAIN CRYOPRESERVATION *CAN* BE ACHIEVED IN 10 YEARS !!!!!
