X-Message-Number: 6534 Date: 15 Jul 96 17:54:28 EDT From: Paul Wakfer <> Subject: Prometheus Project - What it is. This is for the two readers of sci.cryonics who asked for a simple explanation of what the Prometheus Project is. The most complete answer is contained in all the messages about it on Cryonet and in the NG sci.cryonics starting on July 4, 1996. However, in a nut-shell: The Prometheus Project is a project to raise $1M per year for 10 years for the purpose of doing the scientific research necessary to convincingly demonstrate and publish in peer reviewed journals fully reversible brain cryopreservation and, once the money is raised, to do that research. The full reversibility is to include the recovery of as much memory and other mental capacities as would be expected from a currently elective, similarly traumatic, medical operation. The money is being raised in the form of pledges which are to be turned into legally binding share purchase agreements with a for-profit corporation which will be formed to execute the project when $1M per year of pledgers have approved the scientific and business plans which will be formulated during the next year. Not a cent of pledge money is *due* before that time. However, any money that anyone wishes to contribute to defray the expenses of conducting the pledge campaign, formulating the plans and incorporating the company would be greatly appreciated. -- Paul -- !!!!! REVERSIBLE BRAIN CRYOPRESERVATION *CAN* BE ACHIEVED IN 10 YEARS !!!!!
