Subject: SCI. CRYONICS

In a statement on fundraising, Bob Ettinger said (in message
#6711) that the "Prometheus experience scarcely counts, since no one
has put up a nickel of cash yet."

I disagree. I think the fact that so many people have
pledged so much money so quickly for The Project indicates
a *very* strong interest in the cryonics community in seeing
brain cryopreservation research done on an unprecedented scale (by
cryonics standards).

I've been arguing for several years now that brain
cryopreservation research is the best investment that cryonicists
and cryonics organizations can make. I am delighted to see that many
others feel the same way, and that they are apparently willing to put
their money where their mouth is.

As far as not putting up a "nickel of cash", I haven't yet
been asked to do so, but I can assure everyone that I (and Bill Faloon)
would put up the $100,000 we've pledged (for the first of ten years)
tomorrow if we *were* asked to do so, and that we would also sign a
contract agreeing to put up $100,000 for the following 9 years.
