Subject: Prometheus Pledge: Totals

The Prometheus Project:

Convincingly demonstrated, scientifically proven and published,
fully reversible long-term brain cryopreservation within 10 years.

Latest Pledge Totals

As of midnight PDT August 8, 1996, the total of pledges is $300,200 per
year for each of 10 years. We were pushed past the 30% mark by an email note
which came from Australian graduate student Daniel Jacobs who raised his
pledge from $500 per year to $2,500 per year in his note replying to my
request of all pledgers for their signup status:

Thanks very much Daniel for this vote of confidence and for your sincere
desire to want to live.

And now I ask all readers: Is this irational emotionalism, blind faith,
the band wagon effect, or any of those other inane insults that some have
been directed against Prometheus Project pledgers? Here is a serious, bright,
young, graduate biological science student who is saying he has given the
project a lot of thought and decided that it is very important. Does anyone
seriously believe that this man has merely fallen for a lot of "advertising
hype"?
And he has also put his money where his mouth is!

So what is stopping YOU and YOU and YOU from pledging?

Since Daniel had been teamed up with Randy Smith to make $1000 total, this
vote of support leaves Randy needing to find a new partner. Until he does, I
have told him that he will remain in the list.

Pledge totals in each dollar level are now:

3 for $50,000 per year for 10 years,
8 for $10,000 per year for 10 years,
7 for $5,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $4,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $3,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $2,500 per year for 10 years,
3 for $2,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $1,200 per year for 10 years,
18 for $1,000 per year for 10 years,
1 for $500 per year for 10 years.

The 44 pledges total $3,002,000 over all ten years.

Pledge totals per year by national origin:

     Australia $4,500
     Canada $22,000
     France $2,000
     United States $266,700
     No country $5,000
