X-Message-Number: 6833 From: (hEpCaT) Subject: Platt on Leary. Date: Sun, 1 Sep 1996 12:09:31 -0700 (PDT) In his CryoNet message yesterday, Charles Platt said that some Alcor director's (and myself) are solely out to damage the reputation of CryoCare. He went on to say that CryoCare has always minded its own business even though certain Alcor patients may have died under regrettable circumstances, and also that CryoCare never criticized an Alcor suspension. Well, after they were formed they first posted on this list a very long and detailed criticism of an Alcor nothern California suspension. This set the tone for things to come. As for CryoCare's illustrious reputation, I'd say Platt did a pretty good job of making their intentions well known (see his article at http://www.cryocare.org/leary/)-- Timothy Leary revoked his suspension arrangements after Platt and Darwin gave up on him and made it clear to him and his family that they thought they were lower than dogshit (does anyone think that Timothy wasn't perceptive enough to pick up on the attitude that Platt showed us in that article?). No? But if he trusted CryoCare enough to make the switch from Alcor, I can only imagine that it must have been pretty insulting to have his only hope torn away from him. In all my years as an Alcor member, I have come to realize one thing, and that is that the people at Alcor are deeply affected by the dying process and even more outraged by the maliciousness of others ESPECIALLY when it prevents a cryonic suspension. I wish that those who are supposedly responsible could be a little more honest with themselves about their own limitations so they don't preclude the suspensions of anymore potential immortals. -dc -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Cosenza 1264-bit Key fingerprint = BF 6C AA 44 C6 CA 13 3F 4A EC 0A 90 AE F3 74 6D 4096-bit Key fingerprint = A4 79 15 79 D2 73 7D 3F 34 88 2E ED 93 6F 46 B1 "When encryption is outlawed, only outlaws will have encryption."
