How much money did Alcor have to put up in order to make its bid on the new building? In other words, how much money will Alcor lose if it wins the bid, but then has to back out for some reason (say we discover that Arizona and cryonics doesn't mix)? This is the biggest issue as far as I'm concerned. Reading Paulle I get the impression that this is a done deal with lots of money at stake. Reading Henson I get the impression that this is just something that the board is studying. I visited Alcor once, in 1989. It was cramped then, so I can imagine how it must be now. We need a new building. And also, let's face it, ACS is getting a new place so naturally Alcor wants a new building too. On the other hand, what do we know about Arizona? I do know that Alcor has spent a (not so small) fortune on getting the State of California to recognize the legality of cryonics. As I understand it, this effort has been largely successful. I hate the thought of starting the process over in a new state. So, should we stay or should we go? In my opinion, I think that the board should be SERIOUSLY studying a move. But, I also think there are negatives in leaving California, or even getting too far away from the LA area. The pros and cons need to be discussed openly before substantial amounts of money are committed. In the final analysis, however, the board will make the decision. I have confidence they will make the right decision. Mike O'Neal Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=713
