Subject: Alcor move to Arizona

I'm really pleased about the dialog that has been generated about the move.
The organization will be stronger for it. Austin Tupler told me that a
survey of the membership was going to be done. This is a great idea. Will
it be by postcard or will it be a mailer in Cryonics? What will be the
questions? Wording is always important in these things.

Austin said he was concerned about membership loss and allowing the membership
to respond via a survey would help us get a sense of their feelings and
concerns regarding the move. Will this survey be sent out by the end
of April or will it be in the May issue of Cryonics?

I just received a copy of the letter Carlos is suggesting for an introduction
of Alcor to medical examiners, etc. It is excellent. With all that he has to
do, I appreciate how long it must of taken to compose such a carefully worded
letter. I'd really be interested in what response if any Alcor receives from
Dr. Karnitschnig, the County Coroner in Phoenix and Mr. Drinkwater, Mayor of
Scottsdale.

This is exciting stuff, gang. We might get it right yet.

I'm especially happy about the new attitude of openness to alternative sites
for the move. Eric Klien is working with some realtors in Phoenix on the six
pages of listings I was sent of "comparable" free standing buildings. He will
report back to the board any nuggets he finds. Mr. Tupler's building in Ft.
Lauderdale is not zoned "Industrial" so is probably unacceptable. But I think
he is to be commended for the $1,000 month for the 10,000 sq. ft. unit he
proposed. He would be taking a financial loss at that price. Besides, Dave
Pizer's offer of around $600 a month is even better.

My love to all on this glorious Spring day in New York. It's another great
day to be alive and a cryonicist.

My best as always,

Mike Paulle
