X-Message-Number: 7289 Date: 10 Dec 96 20:53:06 EST From: Paul Wakfer <> Subject: Proven Suspended Animation Several people have stated that scientifically perfected and proven suspended animation will still not save those who currently suffer cardiac arrest without a team nearby and consequently suffer much ischemia before being found and cooled. Therefore, we will still need cryonics as it is currently practiced and with many restoration, perhaps requiring nanotechnology. I agree with this last statement. Yes, there will always be situations where people undergo cardiac arrest in circumstances which do not permit a reversible suspended animation procedure. However, we should also realize that once perfected suspended animation has become an elective medical procedure, many of those people who currently suffer cardiac arrest in such "bad" circumstances will, knowing of their terminal condition ahead of time, be able to avoid such circumstances by electing to start the suspended animation procedure before involuntary cardiac arrest occurs. I estimate that this capability would easily cut the number of "bad" suspensions more than in half. -- Paul -- Paul Wakfer email: phone:909-481-9620 pager:800-805-2870 HELP TO ACHIEVE - PERFECTED SUSPENDED ANIMATION WITHIN 20 YEARS!
