Re: Time's Forver Young; Letters

I have just received my Dec. 16 copy of Time and am extremely disappointed
by the Letters to the Editor. Not only was there not a single one, which
referred to either Cryonics or Nanotechnology published, but *every single
one* of the nine letters pertaining to "Forever Young", which was printed,
was negative even on the subject of "mere" life extension.

Judging from the these letters we are all a near-suicidal bunch, tired of
hanging about on this planet. I cannot help but think, that there was
considerable prejudice in the selection of reader's responses based on the
editor's (editors') personal views, rather than a true reflection of the
tenor of the mails received.

I must concede, that my enthusiasm, with which I tried to get so many people
to write in, in an attempt to keep the subject before the public as long as
possible was probably highly naive.

Accordingly I am very grateful to those of the more experienced cryonicists,
who gave it a shot anyway, despite their own reservations.

Greed is a very positive motivating force. Without it (the desire to
possess) man would still not have captured the fire, and would probably
still be swinging from the trees in some of the warmer regions of this globe.
