X-Message-Number: 7399 Date: 01 Jan 97 18:54:11 EST From: DOLINOFF <> Subject: Re # 7392 and # 7388 # 7392. Mr SMITH : Take it easy and please remain polite. 1. Vous n'avez rien a faire avec la SOCIETE CRYONICS DE FRANCE ; 2. Vous ne pouvez pas me donner des ordres ; 3. Vous vous interesserez aux lois sur la cryogenisation anglaises ou europeennes. # 7388 Mr DE RIVAZ : I inform you willingly that the Minister who has written on april 24, 1968 (not 1966 as I have mistakedly written) the law against the human cryogenization is Mr JEANNENEY, under the presidence of the General De GAULLE, of which he was a supporter, and to the Party of which he was belonging. I can precise that the policy of the Medical Authorities is to "preserve" (as they tell) the human organism in two ways : it is authorized to administer only drugs and remedies that are therapeutic belonging the physicians ( of course, the Phase I of a cryogenization is considered as not at all therapeutic) to a corpse not yet arrived into the state of irreversible biological death. You can administer sedative drugs or induce under hypothermia (all this is clearly stipulated in the law), as well as make an autopsy or take organs, only to a corpse of which ALL the 4 described different tests including a "sufficient" delay of flatness of the EEG have proven to a group of three physicians out of which a Professor Manager of Service (and at the exclusion of any physician intending to practice the Phase I or an autopsy, or to take an organ), that the told corpse is arrived into the state of irreversible biological death of the brain. This is made to "preserve" any living man against medical acts not aproved by the medical authorithies. And the second way is to preserve the told living men against the dangers issuing fron the corpses. It is why we are obliged whithin 7 days or to burn or to bury a corpse. But we have the right to embalm it provided it be for a limited time. Now, there is no law stipulating that a retired can only be refounded for sedative drugs, but there is worse. Every physician can decide whether he orders such or such partly refounded drug or not, or if he practices such or such a surgery or does not. For example, for the retired, a desobliteration of the sub-clavian artery is made only if the interested man is otherwise in a robust health. If he is not, he can have the surgery, but provided he pays all its cost by himself. But if I am not wrong, similar dispositions do exist in the U. K. and in Sweden, at least. And now that the french Social Security has an increasing and increasing deficit despite all the measures taken, this wil become worse and worse : only those in good health will be cured when old. The others will have to pay by themselves. You are right : the same who have legislated against cryonics are the same that now, under CHIRAC, a member of the Party founded by the general De GAULLE and who only tell he continues the policy and the wit of the General, take the dispositions (not precise laws, but the result is the same) against the medical help to the elderly. But they are gaullists. I dont understand what has nazism to do with that nor what he has of common with the laws as well as those against Cryonics and those concerning the limitation to the medical help to the elderly. But I see that I have 4 items to add : 5. The policy of the SOCIETE CRYONICS DE FRANCE is to let know the aim of the Cryonics Movement in France and to help those who want to be stored in the cold to travel to the States when alive. On this account, I would be glad to renew my documentation about the different american companies. It is also to thoroughly study what hopes have the cryobiologists to bring back to life a frozen human organ. It is why I read each day CRYONET and keep under a printed presentation the half of all the messages since the beginning. I read also several periodical Bulletins and intend to renew my subscription to CRYOBIOLOGY. 6. This policy is established by a Committee totalling 6 people of which I am the President. In our by-laws, my role is to PUT INTO APPLICATION the policy decided by all. But I add that fortunately, we are all the 6 totally unanimous in all respects. If ever I ceased to do what I am ordered to, I would immediately lose my title of President. But it happens that since 1968, all the members of our Committee are very satisfied how I represent them and by what I am doing, despite I know there are between them communists and gaullists, of what we never tell. More : our by-laws stipulate that it is not debated during our meetings of subjects as the politics opinions, religious opinions nor racist ones. We only study and discuss all the aspects of the human cryogenic suspension for the others as well as for ourselves. 7. Thus, I am cooperative, but have orders only from every member of our Committee and MUST apply them. But I accept orders F R O M N O B O D Y E L S E. Absolutely NOBODY out of the 6 members of the Committee of the SOCIETE CRYONICS DE FRANCE can give me an order; nor ask for explanations what about our policy, nor discuss the French laws, nor, especially, some nervous foreign gentlemen. 8. Having nothing to add and having better to do than to continue such sterile discussions, I shall no more debate into CRYONET of the French affairs nor those of our SOCIETE. Privately, with individuals I am free to chose - yes, and thank you. Anatole DOLINOFF Rate This Message: http://www.cryonet.org/cgi-bin/rate.cgi?msg=7399
