More (fka Nancie Clark)" <> Subject: Re: Immortality: Avoiding Religious Persecution For Pursuing The fact that science is taking the word "immortality" and giving it stature is shaking up religious and spiritual communities. It's also causing these same communities to rethink their faiths. As these communities dodge reason and cover their eyes and ears to technological progress, they too shall slowly, awkwardly, stubbornly move into the future. And, I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't a whole slew of closet supporters of science in hopes of it benefiting their own immortal cause. Indefinite lifespan, or indefinite longevity are more apt phrases -- a bit more transhumans, while immortality has a strong reference to humans.
