Subject: CRYONICS CryoNet move this weekend

The CryoNet mailing list will be moving to a new service provider,
probably this weekend. I have been autoforwarding the incoming
CryoNet messages to a second CryoNet list at the new site for
several days and it has been working reliably. Sorry for the
short notice, but don't panic. Here is what you can expect:

  (1) You will receive a welcome message to CryoNet when I
unsubscribe everyone from the old list and subscribe
      them to the new list.

  (2) Posts to CryoNet still should go to the same address:

Initially, that will send the email to the old site, which
will autoforward your message to the new site. When the
nameserver change for the CryoNet domain reaches your site,
that address will send your posting directly to the new site.
Thus, in both cases the old posting address will work.

  (3) Since the autoforwarding isn't immediate or 100% reliable,
it's possible that the message numbers at the new list may be
off by one or two. But chances are good that the numbering
      will remain synchronized perfectly.

  (4) The instructions for subscribing and unsubscribing will change
since the new site uses Smartlist rather than Majordomo for
running mailing lists. Once the domain change is complete,
subscribe and unsubscribe requests should be sent to:

with either "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" in the subject line
(not message body). If you forget that and send email to
the old subscription address (), you'll
receive a message suggesting that you use the new address
      "" instead.

  (5) The URL for the CryoNet home page will simplify to:
          http://www.cryonet.org/
      The old URL (http://www.cryonet.org/~kqb/cryonet.html) still
will work, but why use that one?

During the transition of the CryoNet domain, the subscribe and
unsubscribe requests in (4) above may not go to the machine you
expect, and thus may not work, but that should straighten itself
out within a few days after the move this weekend. If anything
else "interesting" happens, I'll let you know.
