X-Message-Number: 8443 Date: 05 Aug 97 22:20:30 EDT From: "Stephen W. Bridge" <> Subject: Cryonics Magazine To CryoNet From Steve Bridge, Alcor August 5, 1997 The 3rd Quarter issue of *Cryonics Magazine* is now available. New editor Brian Shock has the publication back on a regular schedule, and the new issue is both attractive and interesting. Columns include thoughtful pieces by Fred Chamberlain, Thomas Donaldson, and Brian Shock. An excerpt from Jim Halperin's *The Truth Machine* is also printed. But the issue is primarily devoted to two subjects: The Patient Care Trust, with two articles by me: A more in-depth discussion of the Trust than was posted on CryoNet, and the six-year history of the trust's creation. The suspension of one of the original cryonics activists, Joe Cannon, who committed suicide in Florida in February of this year. Linda Chamberlain wrote a detailed case report, which is followed by comments from psychologist (and Alcor Director) Michael Riskin, PhD and by Alcor President Fred Chamberlain about "Depression, Suicide, and Cryonics." Brian also includes several sections from Joe Cannon's personally published book, *Recollections of an Average Man.* The cost for the issue is $4.50.
