By now cryonics technology has advanced to a relatively high state from what it was when I had a good hold on it (I've not been involved in any suspensions for years). However CO2 suffers from a very bad problem. It's just not cold enough. Sure, it may be useful temporarily, but if it looked as if we really needed to make our own LN2 then I guess we'd just have to raise the money to do so. The basic technology isn't any harder, but then to say that ignores all the problems of implementation, which never seem to be trivial when you look at them up close. Either by luck or good planning, Alcor and the other societies have not found themselves in that situation.
