Nanotech is important in its own right and for the progress of
civilization in general.
BTW, there is a sci.nanotech newsgroup you might want to checkout.

For cryonics nanotech may be important to bring back most of the current
patients because they are severly damaged. However, if the efforts to
perfect suspended animation by 21st Century Medicine and the Prometheus
Project are sucessful, nanotech will not be needed for suspended
animation which is begun as a medical procedure before damage done by
agonal processes occurs.
